feed_animals The Brecon Beacons National Park covers about 519 square miles with the Black Mountains in the east, the Brecon Beacons in the middle with Pen-y-Fan rising to 2,907ft and the Black Mountain and the Carmarthen Fans in the west.
damson_cottage The Brecon and Monmouthshire canal runs alongside the river from Brecon to Pontypool and provides scenic walks with views of the surrounding mountains. There are opportunities to observe birds and wild life including Red Kite and other rare species. The National Park and Forestry Commission have waymarked nature trails, wonderful waterfalls and forest walks.
damson_cottage_snowing_image Fishing is available on some stretches of the famous salmon and trout Rivers Usk, Tyfi and Wye. Llangorse Lake provides course fishing and all types of water sports. There is an excellent Indoor Rope Centre near Llangorse. Trekking, rock climbing, caving, canoeing, cycling, hang gliding and gliding are all pursued in the area. There is a very good golf course two miles from Damson Cottage at Cradoc.
the_hayloft There are many local pubs offering a warm welcome, roaring open fires and good home cooked food. We recommend The White Swan at Llyfrynach, The Griffin at Felinfach, and the Nantyffin Cider Mill near Bwlch.
Duck_cottage_kitchen The cathedral town of Brecon has two museums; the Welsh Borderer's Museum houses a diorama of Rorke's Drift and the Brecknock Museum with a display of rural life, natural history and ancient Brecon.

Five miles from Brecon is the National Park's Mountain Centre , a centre exhibiting the natural history, geology and scenery in the area. There is a café, picnic area and shop and a warden on hand to help plan guided walks.

The second Saturday of every month is Farmer's Market day in Brecon and is well worth visiting to experience local farmers and craft producers all selling their wares.

In 2005 the 3 Rivers Ride route was opened. Riders can bring their own horses to explore some beautiful scenic routes on horse-back. For riders who would like to bring their horses we can offer horse accommodation and a link up ride with http://www.bennettthewern.vispa.com
